Obituary
Francys ‘Billy’ Brigger, 85, of Clarion passed away Monday, February 15, 2016 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.
Memorial graveside services for Francys ‘Billy’ Brigger will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Galt Cemetery in Galt, Iowa with Mr. Stan Watne officiating.
Francys “Billy” Gay Peterson was born and grew up in the Fulda and Brewster area of southwestern Minnesota, married Merle Brigger in 1948 and moved to Galt, Iowa where they raised their 7 children. They owned and operated a junkyard in Galt beginning in 1955.
Merle and Billy also owned and ran Billy's 5 & 10 dime store in Dows from 1974 to 1977. Throughout the years, Billy worked at Karen's Style Shop & Coast to Coast in Clarion. She served as Mayor of Galt for many years.
Billy belonged to Women's Federated Garden Club & Antique Club in Clarion and Jolly Mothers card club in Dows.
Billy will be remembered for her love of collecting antique memorabilia, Red Wing crocks, Minnesota stoneware and tobacco tins at auctions and for her love of working outside in her flower gardens every morning.
Billy was preceded in death by her husband Merle and sons Terry and Mark.
Billy is survived by 5 children: Ted (Linda) Brigger, Clarion; Susan Brigger Bonner, Clarion; Sandra (Rick) Fulton, Lago Vista, Texas; Linda (Dave) Webster, Ft. Collins, Colorado; Adam (Kathy) Brigger, Goldfield; daughter-in-law Delores Brigger, Lincoln, Nebraska; 7 grandchildren: Eric, Jennifer & Jessica, Katie & Andy, Cory & Cassidy; 16 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: John Peterson & James (Jeannie) Peterson, Edina, Minnesota.
