Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Allyson (Yarger) Eliason, 73, of Kanawha, who left us on April 3, 2025, at her home. Ally was a vibrant spirit whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.
Memorial visitation for Ally Eliason will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt.
Born on April 18, 1951, in Clarion, Iowa, to Ronald Allison and Betty DeRae (Engle) Yarger. She graduated from Storm Lake High School and later pursued her passion by completing cosmetology school. For many years, she operated a beloved hair salon in Kanawha, where she built a lasting relationship with her clients.
Ally’s entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly when she, alongside her late husband Larry, and daughter Tara, established Tally’s Bar and Grill, complemented by a successful catering business. Her dedication to her community extended beyond her businesses; she devoted a significant portion of her life to the Kanawha and later West Hancock School System, where her love for children was evident in every interaction.
A true force of nature, Ally was deeply committed to giving back to her community. She was actively involved with the Kanawha EMTs and Youth Activities, as well as numerous organizations that enriched the lived of those around her. Her infectious enthusiasm and genuine care for others made her a beloved figure in the community.
Ally was a true people person, and her adventures often took longer than planned, as she would inevitably encounter a friend or make a new one along the way. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones, especially her cherished granddaughter, Cooper. She could often be found in the front row at Cooper’s activities, cheering on with unwavering support.
Ally is survived by her daughter, Tara (Scott) Sobek of Kanawha; grandchildren, Cooper Sobek of Kanawha, Brock Sobek of Cedar Falls, Bailey Sobek of Forest City; her nieces, Ciar (Scott Boyle) Carnall of Clear Lake and Thais Carnall of Cedar Rapids; great niece, Harper Boyle of Clear Lake; and her bonus family, including Susan Eliason of Massachusetts, Beth Eliason of Arizona, Owen Rehrauer, Meg Rehrauer, Rydell Rose and families.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Larry Eliason; sister, Ronette Carnall; parents Ron and Betty Yarger; grandparents, Elsie Towns, Luther and Agnes Yarger.
Ally’s legacy of love, kindness, and community service will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a tapestry of cherished memories and a profound impact of the lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to local youth programs in her memory, continuing her legacy of giving back.
