Bart was born on November 5, 1945, in Hampton, Iowa, to Maurice and Phyllis (Simmons) Saylor. He attended secondary schools in Osceola and Denison, Iowa, and graduated from Denison High School.

In 1973, Bart made his home in Belmond, Iowa, where he remained for almost 50 years. He loved the sense of community and the many relationships he built there over the years. Bart served as a volunteer firefighter for many years and participated in the Jaycees. Bart worked a variety of jobs until he found his true calling as an Independent Salesman at BMD in Klemme, Iowa, where he worked until his retirement in 1995.  Bart was an entrepreneur at heart, founding businesses alongside his closest friends, including Lee Limited, Integrity Trailers, and Oxbow Manufacturing. His true passion in these ventures was not just in the success of the businesses but in the time spent with the people important to him.

Bart was united in marriage to Donna Oglesby on June 11, 1988. He loved Donna deeply, and their marriage was a source of great joy in his life. Bart had a strong sense of responsibility, always taking pride in providing for and caring for those he loved.

After retiring, Bart embraced his true passion as a cowboy, donning his cowboy hat and caring for his beloved horses. He spent countless hours horseback riding and horse camping, surrounded by friends whom he considered extended family.  Recently, Bart rediscovered his love for golfing. It provided him with the opportunity to spend quality time with his brother, strengthening their bond and creating memories together. Bart cherished his time with family and friends, enjoying the camaraderie and joy of sharing time with those he held dear.  Known for his quick wit, sarcastic humor, and endless good-hearted teasing, he was also a master of practical jokes that kept everyone laughing.  Bart’s larger-than-life laugh will be remembered by all who knew him.

Bart is survived by his loving wife, Donna; daughter, Kari Sanders, sons Jason Oglesby and Kirk Saylor; his brother, Dwight (Debbie) Saylor; seven grandchildren Devon Cline, Cayden Sanders, Mason, Katelyn, and Maggie Saylor, Jake and Lauren Oglesby; nephews Dwight Saylor Jr., Jessie Saylor; niece Shannon Saylor-Stone, and many other friends, all of whom will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Phyllis, older brother David, and his dear friend Carroll Eide.  We can only imagine the reunion they are all having.
