Deloris Jean Harringa Eekhoff, 90, of Britt, IA passed away November 21, 2024, with her devoted husband of 71 years by her side. She was born September 15, 1934, in Titonka, IA, daughter of the late John and Lena (Bruns) Harringa. She attended Titonka Consolidated School District, graduating in 1953.

On November 4, 1953, Deloris married Harlan Eekhoff in Woden, IA. They first made their home on a farm near Kanawha, IA and later moved to a farm near Woden, IA where they raised their five children. In 1987, they moved to Britt, IA, residing in their new home built by Harlan. She was employed at Hancock County Memorial Hospital for many years. Deloris and Harlan moved to the Summit House Retirement Community, Britt, IA in the fall of 2019 where she enjoyed being pampered by the caring staff.

Deloris was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Woden Christian Reformed Church, Woden IA and later Britt Christian Reformed Church - At the Crossroads Ministry, Britt IA.

She was not one to sit around as there was always something to be cleaned, vacuumed, baked, crocheted, quilted, or tended to in the vegetable and flower gardens. She loved her family fiercely and was especially fond of her grandchildren & great grandchildren. Her face lit up whenever one stopped by to visit, and she laughed at all their jokes – even the bad ones. The cookie jar was always full, a fresh pie for evening supper and she baked every family member her famous angel food cake on their birthday. The secret ingredient must have been love as it tasted like heaven on earth.

Deloris is survived by her husband, Harlan Eekhoff, and three daughters and two sons: Carol (Bryant) Heesch of Titonka, IA; Joyce (Kelly) Johnson of Johnston, IA; Larry (Dede) Eekhoff of Eagle Grove, IA; Linda (Ray) Anderson of Tracy, IA; and Dan (Charlee) Eekhoff of Pella, IA; 12 grandchildren: Tracy (Chris) Dales of St. Paul, MN; Chris (Teresa) Heesch of Clear Lake, IA; Rachelle (Tim) Bonert of Urbandale, IA; Randin Johnson of Union, MO; Megan (Tyler) Vanden Wynboom of Polk City, IA; Laurie (Ryan) Wilson of Webster City, IA; Brady (Marit) Eekhoff of Webster City, IA; Jeanann (Ben) Van Zee of Pella, IA; Jonathan (Chelsea) DeKruif of Harvey, IA; Dustin (Emily) Anderson of Knoxville, IA; Giovanna Eekhoff of Ames, IA and Lennon Eekhoff of Pella, IA and 25 great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are sister Shirley (Byron) Ruter, Kanawha, IA; sister-in-law Marge Harringa, Britt, IA; and brother Roger (Gail) Harringa, Clear Lake, IA. She also leaves other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

She was preceded in death by grandson Ryan Johnson, sisters Magdalene (Robert) Penning and Leona (Harry) Peters, and brother Clarence Harringa.
