Jacqueline Denise Etter was born April 30, 1969 to Charles “Chuck” and Carolyn (Smith) Etter in Newton, Iowa.  She was raised and educated in Clarion, Iowa, where she graduated from Clarion High School with the Class of 1987.

Following high school, Jacci attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, where she studied to be a dental assistant.  She worked in dentistry for about 10 years before becoming interested in Emergency Medical Services, which was her passion for the rest of her life.

Jacci was united in marriage to Mark Skogerboe on June 26, 1999, at the Belmond United Methodist Church.  The couple made their home in Belmond for a year, before relocating to Algona.  In December of 2011, Jacci and Mark moved to Clarion.

In addition to serving as an EMT in the communities of Algona and Clarion, Jacci worked alongside family at the New Home Cafe until its closing in 2017.

Jacci volunteered with the Red Cross for many years, accepting deployment to Mississippi in 2008, to New York, in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, to California, to care for victims of the wildfires, to West Virginia following flooding, and finally to Texas, after yet another hurricane decimated the gulf coast.

Jacci found incredible fulfillment in living a life of service to others, though, like many caregivers, she often fell short when it came to caring for herself.  She struggled with the turmoil of mental health, which further affected her overall health.

During happier times, Jacci enjoyed crafting, often making Christmas wreaths and other items for friends and family, and she was an avid collector of Converse All-Stars.  She had an encyclopedic knowledge of “useless facts” about pop culture, especially music and movies.

Jacci is lovingly remembered by her husband, Mark Skogerboe, of Clarion; her children, Jesse (Alayna) Olsen of Maxwell, TJ (Jessica) Olsen of Algona, Anna Finzen of Clear Lake, and Amy (Ryan Williamson) Skogerboe of Ventura; grandchildren, Hudson and Everlee, Charlie and Emmett, Ava, and Calvin, and Jax, Hazel and Rick; her mother, Carolyn Etter, of Clarion; siblings, Scott (Kristin) Etter of Des Moines, Julie (Jim) Egli, of Palmer, Alaska, Jana (Darrin) Soma, of Belmond, Lonnie (Samantha) Etter, of Utica, New York, Matthew (Tori) Etter, of Clarion, and Jill (Brian Oliver) Harrington, of Clarion; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

Jacci was preceded in death by her father, Chuck Etter; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
