Obituary
Jeffrey Thill, 71, of Britt, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jeffrey Thill will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 335 First Avenue South East in Britt, with Father Andrew Marr officiating. Per Jeff’s wishes, the family asks you wear your favorite sports team attire on Friday.

Visitation will be held an hour prior to Mass on Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Britt.
Jeffrey Harold Thill, the eldest child of Harold and Marcia (Downs)Thill was born on January 17, 1954 in Algona, Iowa. He grew up in the St. Benedict area and graduated high school from Bishop-Garrighan with the class of 1972, where he was an active member of the school band, playing first chair trombone and swing choir and dance. He loved dancing and really missed it after his car accident.
After high school, Jeff began his career in agriculture, working at various grain elevators. Later in life after his car accident, he attended Iowa State University, where he earned a degree in Ag Business and Economics, a distinction he was especially proud of.
Jeff was united in marriage to Debra Wilhelmi at Ames, Iowa on July 21, 2000. The couple raised their family in Ames Iowa later moving to Britt Iowa where they have lived since 2002.
Being an Alumni, Jeff was a huge Iowa State sports fan especially football. He also cheered on the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. Jeff enjoyed woodworking when he was younger until he lost his finger.
Above all Jeff cherished time spent with his family. Whether through phone conversations or gatherings at the Thill Annual Camp Out (T.A.C.O.), he always cherished those moments. Jeff will be remembered for his captivating storytelling, infectious sense of humor, and positive attitude. His enduring advice to “take things as they come and make the best of it” will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Deb Thill of Britt; daughter Lisa (Brian) Urbanek of Belle Plaine; sons Brad Thill of St. Benedict, Brian Thill of Belle Plaine, Josh Rettig of Hutchinson, Minnesota and Conor (Alissa) Thill of Muscatine; 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister Erin (Charly) Blankenburg of Fort Dodge; brothers Jason (Tina) Thill of Humboldt, Todd (Ruth) Thill of Britt and Jonathan “Jody” (Jeanne) Thill of Waukee; father-in-law Donald Wilhelmi of Vinton; sister-in-law Kris Wilhelmi of Vinton; brothers-in-law Larry Nolte of McCallsburg, Terry Wilhelmi of Newhall, and Steve Wilhelmi Spokane, Washington along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandsons Issiah and Dustin Thill, nephew Grady Blankenburg, sister Tracy Nolte, mother-in-law Mae Wilhelmi and sister-in-law Karen Houston.
