Condolences

Tammy, I’m heartbroken to find out Justin left this world. I realized I hadn’t heard from him in a while so went on FB to see if you guys had made it home as planned, and realized he was gone. I am so very sorry. He was a good man, a good friend, and I was looking forward to practicing my ‘ōlelo with him once you folks had settled back here. That man was brilliant. He had so much left to give our community. And Tammy, his love for you was tangible; he absolutely adored you. He is so very missed. I’m sorry this condolence is so late; I just didn’t know. My heart hurts. He was one of the good ones. Aloha, Gina

I could not believe it when I found out today. Justin was my philosophical brother, having had class with him multiple times with Dr. Dredd. He was a profoundly kind soul that radiated goodness. He helped and saved many people. I am proud to have been his friend. He will be sincerely missed. My condolences to you, his family. A true hero and good person.

Deepest Aloha to the family and friends of Justin Hill. My name is Vince Dodge and I’m from Wai’anae, Hawaii. Got to know, Justin, his wife Tammy, and family as he became part of our community through his service in a local community group called Malama Makua. Please take a moment and visit www.malamamakua.org our website, which Justin voluntarily put together and maintained. It is an example of the love and dedication Justin had for all living beings and our common home- Mother Earth. Justin was curious, appreciative, and always willing to step up. To his parents and family, thank you for raising such a solid, loving man. He is sorely missed, and deeply loved here. We feel him- he still stands with us for the protection and healing of our common home- Mama ‘Aina and Justice for the Hawaiian Nation. May the celebration of his life fill your hearts more fully with love and move you deeply to strengthen the bonds that connect us all.. Me ke Aloha Nui- with deepest love, Vince Kana’i Dodge for the Dodge, Young, Shimabukuro families

Justin, I felt is my “Hanai-son”, (Hawaiian for my adopted son) because he listened to me with an intentional heart and spirit! Dr.David Augsburger PhD, Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena CA said, “Being heard is so close to being loved that for the average person, they are almost indistinguishable!” Justin listened with his heart! And I will miss him until I go to see him!
