Obituary


Karen A. (Lesher) Wason, 80, of Clarion, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 29, 2024 at United Presbyterian Church, 219 1stStreet NW in Clarion. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Karen Ann, daughter of Dannie and Genevieve (Boswell) Lesher, was born on December 21, 1943 in Webster City. She grew up in Webster City before moving to Clarion with her family. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1962.

On April 19, 1963, Karen was united in marriage to William Wason at the Presbyterian Church in Clarion. They celebrated their 54th anniversary in 2017 before Bill’s passing.

Karen worked at the bakery, the hospital as a nurse’s aide, and later at Super Valu for a few years before working at the school as a cook for over 30 years.

Over the years, Bill and Karen enjoyed taking vacations around the US. Karen enjoyed baking and playing board games. Karen was very active in the church and volunteered at the hospital delivering meals on wheels and in the gift shop.

Left to cherish her memory is her son Scott Wason of Clarion; grandchildren Zach Wason, Katie (Nick) Bouska, and Jacob Wason; great-grandchildren Ryan Wason, Bennett Bouska, and Haven Bouska; and nieces and nephews Don (Lori) Wason and their family, Betty Haker and her family, Larry Klatt and his family, Starla (Jerry) Chapman and their family, and Susie (Dave) Chapman and their family.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dannie and Genevieve Lesher; husband Bill Wason; and sister Gloria Wiemann.
