Lois was born at home on July 13, 1936, to William John and Leona Mae (Rhutasel) Sherer in Hampton, Iowa. She was united in marriage to George Edward Schuler on November 30, 1955, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa.

Lois was a natural homemaker with the gift of hospitality. She always had an extra spot at the table and a ready guest bed for travelers. She was happiest when her home was filled with lively conversation, laughter, rowdy card games, and someone napping on the couch. She loved hosting innumerable Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Birthday, Graduation, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, etc. celebrations.

Lois and George raised six children on a shoestring budget, but the home was filled with love and busy with family activities, board games, card games, and fun outside. The family was rich in all that mattered. Her cookie jar was never empty and no-one who visited ever left unfed.

After moving from the farmhouse to town she studied hard and obtained her GED then her CNA. She worked for 17 years as a CNA at the Dows Care Center. She loved the job and took pride in helping to make others more comfortable and ensure they were well cared for. She was very pleased when she was recognized as the employee of the month.

Lois is survived by her children Jolene (Charlie) Cronin of Oklahoma; Glenn (Bev) Schuler of Osage, Iowa; Rhonda (Brad) Lawson of Eagle Grove, Iowa; Rodney (Nancy) Schuler of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; Becky (Rick) Wilson of Iowa Falls, Iowa; and Barry (Marcia) Schuler of Boone, Iowa; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, sister-in law Freda Sherer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband George; sister, Lavonne Grice; brothers, Howard, Jack, Bill and Duane Sherer; niece Vicki Terveer and nephews Michael Sherer and Terry Grice.
