Marvin Nathan Boomgarden, the son of Nathan and Margaret (Mein) Boomgarden, was born on June 1, 1940 on the farm in rural Kanawha. Marv grew up in rural Kanawha where he attended country school until 8thgrade. He graduated from Kanawha High School. After high school, Marv worked various jobs around the area before his farming career.
Marv was united in marriage to Beverly Ganseveld on April 16, 1960, at the Britt Christian Reformed Church. To this union, their daughter Brenda was born. The family lived in Goldfield, rural Renwick and lastly moved into Britt.
Having a big heart and a caring nature, Bev and Marv opened their home to Marv’s cousin Carl Anderson and raised him as their own. They also became foster parents to 14 other children.
Marv enjoyed gardening, playing cards and horseshoes, bowling and fishing. Farming was a huge part of his life, and he loved doing it. Marv was always busy, usually outside tinkering with something. Most of all he loved being around his grandchildren and family.
