Pauline Marie, daughter of Paul and Marcella (Vrba) Thul, was born on December 24, 1950 at Clarion Memorial Hospital. Pauline grew up on a farm south of Clarion and graduated from Clarion High School in 1969, where she was active in 4-H and played baritone in the high school band. Following high school, Pauline received her bachelor's degree in education and library science from the University of Northern Iowa in 1973.
Pauline worked 20+ years as a school librarian, remedial reading, and remedial math teacher. She also worked 10+ years at Farm and Home Publishing.
Pauline taught religious education for several years at St. John’s Catholic Church. She loved crafting and sewing. When she was not busy with those things, she was with her friends having a meal or on adventures. Pauline loved to travel, especially taking back roads to visit her kids in North Dakota and Vermont, often “taking a detour.”
Pauline had a heart full of joy and childlike wonder. She always listened and was kind. She was loved and put so much good into this world.
Pauline is survived by her kids Dan (Chris) Turner of Northwood, North Dakota and Mary (Daryl) Janek of Burlington, Vermont; her grandkids Mike Turner of West Frankfort, Illinois and Dorothy Turner of Northwood, North Dakota; sister Nancy (Kevin) Prochaska of Kennesaw, Georgia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
