Ronald Nielsen

Ronald D. Nielsen, 89, of Crystal Lake, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024 at Westview Care Center in Britt.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Ewing Funeral Home, 178 Center Street West in Britt.

Ronald Dean Nielsen, the son of Laurence and Elsie (Jensen) Nielsen, was born on April 15, 1935 in Scranton, Iowa. He moved with his family to Crystal Lake in 1941.

In 1954, Ronald enlisted in the United States Army and served until Dec 22, 1955 when he was honorably discharged.

Ronald was a farm hand and drove truck before he started his career at Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa. In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering on old tractors, attending threshing shows and flee markets, and having coffee in the morning at the Crystal Lake Senior Center.

He is survived by his two sons David (Marie) Nielsen of Buffalo Center and John (Rhonda) Nielsen of Lake Mills; grandchildren Emily Nielsen, Travis (Phetcharat) Nielsen, Devlin Nielsen, James Nielsen, Raymond Nielsen, Ryan Jorgenson, Brandy Jahnke; great grandchildren Anakin Lapcheske, Dorothy Nielsen and Delilah Nielsen; one brother Laurence “Junior” Nielsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son George Nielsen, granddaughter Marie Nielsen, great granddaughter Georgia Taylor, and siblings Ivan, Vivian, Eileen, Margaret, Aaron and Harold.
