Obituary
Shirley Tysdal, 88, of Clarion passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Clarion.
Memorial services for Shirley Tysdal will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:30 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
Shirley Marie (Davis) Tysdal, the daughter of Lloyd and Elaine (Stell) Davis, was born on March 3, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas. She graduated from Alice High School with the class of 1951.
After high school, Shirley continued her education and attended Secretarial School in Kingsville, Texas. There she met Robert Tysdal on the Naval base. The couple was married on August 22, 1954 at the First Baptist Church in Alice. They remained there until Bob was honorable discharged from the United States Navy. The couple then raised their family on a farm outside Galt, Iowa.
Shirley worked over 20 years as the manager for the United Federal Savings Bank in Clarion. In her free time, she enjoyed volunteering at Ladies Auxiliary VFW and singing in the United Church of Christ Congregational Choir where she was a faithful member for years. She also enjoyed playing cards especially bridge and the many years she spent in Texas as a snowbird.
She will be missed for her kindness and encouraging words.
She is survived by her children Robert (Diana) Tysdal Jr of Blanco, Texas, Ronald Tysdal of Canyon Lake, Texas and Rachel (Doug) Brownell of Urbandale, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister Sylvia Harris; brother Wilbur Davis and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Tysdal in 2015 and her brothers Jerry, Lloyd, Pete and Clayton.
