Obituary


Wanda A. (Babcock) Loux, 97, of Rowan, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Private family graveside service will be held.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Monday.

Wanda Arlene, daughter of James and Erma (Beach) Babcock, was born on July 12, 1926 in Webster City. Wanda grew up in rural Dows and graduated from Dows High School.

On March 24, 1947, Wanda was married to Eldon Loux in Austin, Minnesota. Together they farmed and raised cattle on their farm south of Rowan until retirement. Wanda spent her whole life on a farm.

For over 30 years, Eldon and Wanda wintered in Apache Junction, Arizona. They enjoyed when their grandchildren came to visit. Enjoyed many fishing and camping trips to Minnesota and Canada. Wanda loved cooking, gardening, sewing, making porcelain dolls, music (Elvis), and being the bingo caller.

Wanda is survived by her children Deanna  Mallinger of Cedar Falls, Leland (Cathy) Loux of Wheatland, MO, and Merlin (Jackie) Loux of Dows;  grandchildren Rhonda Curtis, Gary (Jen) Loux, Sandi (Darin) Dueling, Scott (Shana) Mallinger, Andrea Mallinger, Robert (Kris) Mallinger, Nic (Haley) Loux, and Matt (Missy) Loux; many great-grandchildren; sisters Glee Ryan and Ruth (Don) Collier and sister-in-law Rosann Loux; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eldon; son Duan Loux; grandson Timothy Loux, parents James and Erma Babcock; son-in-law Paul Mallinger; brother Keith Babcock; and sister Dorothy Roll.
