Obituary


Lisa Rasmussen, 59, of Kanawha passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa in Mason City.

Memorial services for Lisa Rasmussen will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church, 402 North Main Street in Kanawha, with Pastor Mark Heath officiating. 

Visitation for Lisa Rasmussen will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Ewing Funeral Home, 118 East Second Street in Kanawha.

Lisa Marlene (Salven) Rasmussen was born December 16, 1955 to Ronald and Marlene (Everett) Salven in Britt, Iowa.  Lisa was raised in Britt and graduated from Britt High School in 1973.

Following high school, Lisa attended Luther College, and later Hamilton Business College where she received where she received an Administrative Assistant degree.

Lisa married Tom Eekhoff, and to this union, daughters Stacy, Kelly, and Shauna were born.  Lisa was later married to Jack Rasmussen on April 4, 1987 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Lisa worked at Eaton Corporation in Belmond before working for PSI in Belmond as a graphic designer for several years.  Following her time at PSI, she helped raise her grandchildren, a great joy for her.  She later worked for Custom Craft in Kanawha before retiring due to ill health.

Lisa was an artist.  She loved painting and making clothes and modifying doll clothes for the girls of the family.  She painted the Sunday school classrooms and hallways in the Kanawha and Clarion Methodist Churches with Bible scenes.  She loved raising plants, reading Stephen King novels and watching British comedy shows.  She had a soft spot for animals and adopted and saved many strays over the years.

Lisa will be remembered for being a great mother and grandmother; she had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need.

Lisa is survived by her husband Jack, of Kanawha; daughters Stacy (Cory) Brown of Kanawha and Kelly (Jorge) Flores of Britt; grandchildren Kori Eekhoff, Kaylee Owens, Clayton Prescott, Jada Erdahl, Camisha Brown, Isabel Flores and Violet Flores, and great-grandchild Kegan Holldorf; half-siblings Ronda Powers, Tim Salven and Tyler Salven; along with other extended family members and friends.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Marlene (Jerry) Codner, Ronald Salven, grandparents Steve and Violet Everett, daughter Shauna Eekhoff in 1996, and faithful dog, Nettie.
