Albert "Butch" Nielsen, 83, passed away Saturday, February 28, 1998 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa.
Albert, the son of Aksel and Christina (Kristofferson) Nielsen, was born April 24, 1914, in Guide Rock, Nebraska. As a young boy, he moved with his parents to Canada where he attended school. The family then moved to LuVerne, Iowa, where he continued his education in country schools. Butch worked as a manager at the Hanna Ranch in LuVerne. On November 26, 1932, he was united in marriage with Cordelia Ristau in Canton, South Dakota. The couple made their home in LuVerne, where they farmed until 1953. They then moved to a farm south of Hutchins where they farmed until 1980, when they retired and moved into Britt.
Butch liked to fish, hunt, and help his sons. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Britt since 1953, where he was very active, holding several offices.
Butch is survived by his wife, Cordelia; his sons: Jerry and his wife, Joan of Wesley; James and his wife, Joyce of Aurora, IL; Dale and his wife, Jane of Britt; Ronald and his wife, Jan of San Diego, CA; and Roger and his wife, Beverly of Brit; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; a sister: Marie Jackson of LuVerne; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
