Condolences

Upon learning of Arlyce' passing I send my sincerest sympathy to her family. As a volunteer for RSVP I "met" Arlyce in July of 2020, through the phone a friend program. We had lengthy, interesting conversations every Monday and Friday talking about family, friends, everyday life, just anything that came to mind. Our phone calls ended at the end of March 2021. It was an enjoyable time getting to know Arlyce. She will greatly missed.

Arlyce was a good friend and neighbor. While I was homeschooling my older 3 daughters, she sat outside and listened to my son read. Then asked him questions about what he read. I learned so much about flowers from her! I remember one time I was having a challenging time with one of my daughters, so I came to a "more seasoned mother". She listened to me. The she wanted to show me something. She took me out to the garage. She pulled out this old, little, black Bible. She said she didn't know where it came from, but that it had her handwriting in it. I opened it and I think right at the beginning, in handwriting, it said something like Turn to Roman's 6:23 (All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God). Once a person would turn to the page that the verse is on, at the bottom it said to turn to Roman's 5:8 (But God demonstrated his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.) After turning to that page that the verse is on, there was another verse to turn to. I read several of these. Arlyce, getting a little uncomfortable, (probably thought I was going to stand there and read the whole thing!)I realized then and told her, Arlyce, these things are good for me! She said, Really? I said Yes, they are reminding me that I need to ask Jesus to help me with my family. I believe God used Arlyce to help me remember I have a God that hears me when I pray. I'm sorry for the loss in your family of this sweet lady.

Arlyce was always so kind to Mom (Mildred Lewellyn). And also very complimentary to us whenever she ate at our restaurant. I had quizzed her several times in the last couple of years about State family history. She was a bright star and will be missed. Our condolences to her family.

I am so sorry to read this news. Arlyce was a great lady who helped me a lot through the Westhaven Caregivers group. She was a proud member of this group and never missed a meeting through all the years the group existed. Her kindness will be greatly missed! Condolences to her boys (as she always called them) and families. RIP Friend!

We are so sorry. She will be missed in the OFG group. You could always count on her for a funny statement or country music fact. Prayers to the family.
