Obituary
Brian Lee Busick, son of Robert and Karen Busick, died unexpectedly at his home January 21, 2022, at the age of 50.
Brian was born February 11, 1971, in Belmond, Iowa. He graduated from Belmond High School in 1989 and attended North Iowa Community College. He was a Counselor at Jerry Rabiner Boys’ Ranch in Fort Dodge, Iowa for many years. In 2003, he started as a Residential Officer at the Fort Dodge Community Correctional Center.
Brian was passionate about music, especially Motley Crue. He loved going to concerts and collecting “stuff”, everything from baseball cards to records to bobbleheads. Brian was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Denver Bronco fan, but his favorite team was whatever baseball team his son was playing for. He never missed a game or an opportunity to support his children’s interests.
He will be remembered as a mountain man with a teddy bear heart. His infectious laugh and quick wit were like no other. Brian loved being a dad and an uncle. His family and friends meant the world to him.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his #1 fans-children, Raeanna and Isaiah Busick; his beloved mother, Karen Busick; sisters, Donna (Shane Laycock) Busick and Julie (Eden) Cunningham; mother of his children, Melinda Busick; nephews, Anthony (Abbi) Bock and Tyson Cunningham; niece, Ciara Bock; great nephews, Mateo Aguirre, Henry and Teddy Bock; aunt, Della Busick; cousins, Steve, John, Warren, Wayne and Mike Busick; and a host of incredibly amazing friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Busick; grandparents, Alvin “Bud” and Helen Busick and Melvin and Lillian Longseth; and his uncle, Ray Busick.
The family will greet friends Friday, January 28, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane S., Belmond, Iowa. Brian will be laid to rest at St. Olaf Cemetery in Bode, Iowa. In honor of Brian’s memory and love of being comfortable, the family asks that the guests wear their favorite concert/band or baseball t-shirts. Masks are encouraged.
