Obituary

Carl Leonard Isaacson, 93, of Kanawha, passed away Thursday (May 16, 2002) at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha, Iowa.

Carl was born on August 7, 1908, in rural Mustang, Colorado, to John and Jennie (Erickson) Isaacson.  He lived on the family farm in Colorado for several years and helped with his father's farming operation.  He moved to Chicago, Illinois, in the mid 1940's, where he attended Moody Bible Institute, North Park College, and North Park Theological Seminary.  He was ordained as a minister of the Evangelical Covenant Church in America.

Carl was united in marriage to Lenore Bernice Lund on June 14, 1952.  To this union one daughter was born.

Carl served churches in the communities of Leonardville, Kansas; Brady, Nebraska; Haxtum, Colorado; Dresden, Kansas; Centerville, Iowa; Beresford, South Dakota; Odeboldt, Iowa; and Kiron, Iowa.  Due to health reasons, Carl retired from the ministry in the fall of 1978.  After the death of his wife in December of 1985, Carol moved to the Kanawha Community Home so he could be close to his daughter and her family.

Carl loved to garden and enjoyed reading and watching Chicago Cubs baseball games.

Carl is survived by his daughter, Barbara and her husband Doug Thompson, of Kanawha, Iowa and two grandsons, Adam Thompson, Ames, Iowa and Aaron Thompson, Kanawha, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
