Obituary
Carole Kaye (Shelton) Taylor was born December 3, 1938 in Kanawha, Iowa to James Elvin Shelton and Marie Elizabeth (Freerksen) Shelton. She was raised in Kanawha and graduated from Britt High School in 1957.
Carole married Kent Taylor in 1958. They raised their family and made their home in Mason City. Carole dedicated her life to helping others. She sponsored a self help group for teenagers for many years, provided child care in her home, worked as an instructor at NIVC, and for the last ten years contributed her skills at Prairie Ridge Treatment Center in Mason City.
Carole loved bird watching, gardening, reading, crafts, traveling, and weekly reunions with her sisters, brother and brothers-in-law. Family proved a top priority for Carole always. Carole adored her children and grandchildren. She enriched the lives of many long time friends, offered a quick and ready smile, a warm word of encouragement, a keen ear, and strong shoulder.
Carole is survived by her best friend and companion Kenny Cline, Mason City; three daughters Kelly Kruggel and husband, Kurt, Rockwell, Shelly Doescher and husband, Doug, Mankato, Minnesota, Mindy Boyd and husband, Mike, Mason City; beloved grandchildren Kyle Taylor, Iowa City, Pierson Taylor, Rockwell, Casey Boyd, Owatonna, Minnesota, Tess, Taylor, Mykl Boyd, Mason City, Randi Kay and Derek Doescher, Mankato, Minneastoa; great-grandson Davin Parent, Mason City; sister and brother-in-law Helen and Stanton Brunes of Goodell; sister Marjorie Clark of Mason City; brother Jim Shelton of Cedar Falls and brother-in-law Dayton Adreon of Britt.
Carole is preceded in death by her parents, great-grandson Baby Shad, sister Dorothy Westin and brother-in-law Carl Westin and sister Lois Adreon.
Carole crossed over on January 22, 2002, in her home surrounded by friends and family. Carole courageously fought cancer for the last several months of her life.
