Visitation for Casey Patras will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, also at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale.

Casey Ray Patras, the son of Donald & Sharon (Reutzel) Patras was born at the Antelope Memorial hospital in Neligh, Nebraska on March 4, 1975. He graduated from Neligh-Oakdale High School in 1993. He then attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota.

During the summer of 1994, Casey attended Camp Adventure through the University of Northern Iowa. He was stationed at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan where he was a camp leader for the military children. Casey had many fond memories of this summer and made lifelong friends from it.

Casey worked at Journeys for many years setting up stores around the Midwest. He then got transferred to the Des Moines metro area to manage the Journeys store at the South Ridge Mall in Des Moines, Iowa. Casey then began working at Mickey’s Irish Pub, where he met his loving wife of 20 years. He also DJ’d @ Fat Jacks and worked there for many years. Casey met many lifelong friends working for these companies. He later started working for Wells Fargo and then worked for a mold remediation company where he traveled throughout the Midwest renovating homes. Casey fulfilled a lifelong dream of having his own business when he opened C2K2 toys. Due to health reasons, Casey then continued to be a kid at heart and bought and sold Lego.

Casey was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker and Detroit Lions fan. He was able to share his love of the Cornhuskers with his wife and daughters. As a family, they attended many Cornhusker football and volleyball games. Casey was very proud of the “glory years” of Nebraska football and he was looking forward to Nebraska getting back to a bowl game soon. 😊Casey collected a lot of Nebraska memorabilia. Casey always loved to remind people about Nebraska volleyball and their National Championships. He enjoyed seeing Candi, Kaylor, & Kennadie get so involved in the Nebraska Cornhusker matches. Along with the Cornhuskers, Casey’s love of the Detroit Lions held strong all through the “rough years.” Just a week ago Casey told Candi that this is the Lions year to go to the Super Bowl.

Casey was able to relive his love of baseball during the spring and summer of 2022. Casey and his family followed and supported the Sticks 2028 baseball team that was invited to Cooperstown, New York to play during the week of the Hall of Fame induction. Casey was able to achieve a lifelong dream of going to Cooperstown. Casey enjoyed the week in Cooperstown, collecting pins with all the players and cheering on the Sticks baseball team. Casey’s “little buddy” Alex was on the team and Casey was so very proud of all of Alex’s accomplishments. Casey always said that Alex was going to do amazing things.

Casey’s most meaningful thing in his life were his twin daughters Kaylor Merrill & Kennadie Frieda. He was so proud of the amazing young ladies that they had become. He enjoyed just hanging out with the girls and their friends.

Casey is survived by his wife of 20 years, Candi Patras and their two amazing daughters Kaylor & Kennadie of Waukee. A sister, Reah Benes and husband Terry of Elgin, Nebraska. Nieces, Allie Schiltmeyer and husband Hugh of Lincoln, Nebraska and their son Reece. Karlie Shoemaker and husband Eric of Norfolk, Nebraska and their children Violet & Everett.
