Condolences

Kay and Brooks Family, We are sorry for your loss. Roger was a special person always giving of himself. In particular, Roger was a GREAT model railroad friend. He designed and constructed 25 model buildings for my personal model railroad layout. He took the time to go out, photograph and measure and build scale models of depots and many grain elevators. Roger had attention to details. Roger was a very kind and humble person. We will all miss Roger. Rest in peace Roger.

Mr. Brooks was an incredible man and remarkable teacher. He had a passion for people and did his best to bring out of the best in everyone he knew. I’ll never forget how he challenged us in class to think outside the box and was the absolute king of acronyms! Rest in peace 💙

Mr. Brooks was an inspiration in his passion for History. As a teacher he provided challenges in 'how to,' think about the subject beyond the textbooks. As a coach his encouragement was enduring. Sincerest condolences to Mrs. Brooks and the family as the fond memories you have uplift you through your time of grief. God Bless.

Uncle Rog, I am really sorry to hear you have left us. I know you are probably now now in your own field of dreams, happy at peace. I wanted to let you know you we are thinking of you, Kay, Brian and Amy. Remembering those many great family moments of growing up and visiting Clarion. Playing tackle football in your yard and begging for more train time. Thanks for being a kind uncle and always making time for us kids. Happy you got to see the Cubs win a WS for once.. 🙏 RIP Chris

My first thoughts of Roger are Cub Rog and trains, but then too the early a.m. golf. As a big part of our church family we lift the entire Brooks family up in prayer. Lord wrap your loving arms around Kay, Amy, and Brian and give them comfort knowing that they are not alone in their loss. Bob & Sue

Many great memories of Coach Brooks. From the lectures in civics class, to him telling me what play to run in to the huddle for football, and spending time with him and family at the house, watching the Cubs or playing with the trains . He was always there for my brothers and I. Our hearts go out to the Brooks family, and want them to know how much we cared for Roger and how much they are in our prayers and thoughts. DB

Rog was one of a kind special friend to us! He and Kay welcomed us to their house for dinners so many times! He was the one who took care of the memorial tree for Joels's son for years .When Rog got sick will remind Joel when to winterize the tree and water the tree! Rog had the nickname for Joel "Easy Money " and they had so much fun joking around! Thank you Rog for making us feel special and treating us like a family! Will treasure the good memories!

My parents, Kurt and Shelby, are in assisted living at Windhaven in Cedar Falls. When I visited with them this morning, they wanted me to share these thoughts: We have known Roger and Kay for many years. Roger was a teacher at Clarion Middle School, where Kurt was a principal. We are grateful to call them friends through school activities, and also remember them from a variety of community events. We send our condolences to them during this difficult time.

Roger was a wonderful, giving person. He was our “green grocer” for many summers. When Lefty could no longer be left home alone, Rog came and sat with him on Sunday evenings, so that I didn’t have to quit singing in Choralaires. He was truly one of the good guys!

My favorite memories of Roger are the times we golfed together.( Stan) Though I’m no golfer, just a TX to > IA transplant, For me, any encounter with Roger, became a special memory for me. I just loved that sweet guy, and he’ll be sorely missed by anyone who knew him! (Martha)

He will always be “Mr. Brooks “ to me. I respect him so much because he was a wonderful teacher and a compassionate, enthusiastic role model. He made history come alive with his animated lectures and prepared us for college by requiring us to take notes and outline the main points. He lived his faith and loved his family. Sincere sympathy to all who love him. His dedication to educating us left an indelible mark on me. May his spirit live on.
