Cynthia (Cindy) Lea Riley was born March 10, 1954 in Clarion to Richard and Lila (Mason) Amonson.
Cindy graduated from Clarion High School in 1972 and attended Iowa Central College. She enjoyed bowling and participated in a mixed couples league where she met Doug. They were married April 1984. From this marriage, 2 children were born, Thomas (Tom) and Whitney.
Cindy started working at Allen Printing in Clarion in 1974 where she continued to work for 37 years. She then went to work at Iowa Specialty Hospital (ISH) as a cook in the cafeteria. After a couple years, she left that job to work as a cook at Clarion Goldfield School. She returned to ISH after a couple years as a part-time employees in the cafeteria until she retired in March, 2022.
Cindy enjoyed getting out in the boat and quilting. She was a generous and loving person, always willing to give her time and talents as a quilter. Many of the quilt she made were given to family, friends and others that had touched her life in one way or another. Over the last 10 years she not only continued to make numerous quilts, but devoted her time to her 5 grandsons, always willing to travel 3 hours round trip to attend a 10 minute program, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, football games or whatever event one of the grandsons was involved with. She was also an avid reader. If she wasn’t in her sewing room, you could always find her reading a book to include time spent traveling to one of the grandson’s events.
Cindy was a faithful member of Clarion First Methodist Church where she was always willing to help when needed. She was involved with a circle from the church.
Since her retirement in 2022, she continued to spend several hours a week volunteering at Iowa Specialty Hospital, blood drives or offering to help anyone when needed.
