Obituary
Danny Lynn Thompson, the son of LeRoy and Grace (Egemo) Thompson, was born February 24, 1956 in Clarion. He grew up in Hardy, Iowa and attended school at Vernon.
After high school, he helped his dad on the farm for a while. He then attended Lincoln Technical Institute becoming a certified mechanic. He worked at Pat Clemen’s dealership before moving back to the area and began working at Electrolux in Webster City.
He was united in marriage to Christine Schaffer on December 28, 1985 in Renwick, Iowa. The family raised their children in Goldfield. Danny loved being a family man and cherished the time he got to spend with them. They took many trips to the family cabin at Long Lake, went on countless camping trips and had a memorable family vacation in Mexico.
During his free time, Danny was a woodworker and enjoyed refinishing furniture. He enjoyed tinkering and his daily car rides. Danny was a strong advocate for helping find a cure for Alzheimer’s. He was an active participant in an Alzheimer’s Research Group for eight years with his last generous gift of donating his brain for further research develop. If Danny could do anything to prevent his children and grandchildren from suffering he would.
He will be missed for his mellow laid back attitude, goofy laugh, and arm wrestling skills.
He is survived by his wife Chris of Goldfield; sons Austin (Janelle) Thompson of Hardy and Scott (Jordyn Buhr) Thompson of Eagle Grove; grandchildren Easton, Emmy, Addy and Lainey; Siblings Donna (Larry) Cameron, Marvin (Janet) Thompson, Bonnie Welter, Rick (Jane) Thompson, Dale (Roxanne) Thompson, Mark (Tammy) Thompson, Doug Thompson, Greg (Allyson) Thompson, Darlene (John) Egesdal, and David (Marcia) Thompson; brothers and sisters-in-law Shari (Rich) Llewellyn, Jim (Cindy) Schaffer, Allen “Rick” (Susan Sherman) Schaffer, Robert “Bobby” (Ronda) Schaffer, Cindy Schaffer along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Tony Thompson, brothers Larry and Roger Thompson, mother-in-law Violet Pergande, and brothers-in-law Delmar “Doc” Welter and Steven Schaffer.
