Dean Robert Smith, 62, of Mason City, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at his home in Mason City.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dean Smith will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Epiphany Parish - Holy Family Catholic Church, 714, North Adams Avenue in Mason City with Father Neil Manternach officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood - St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.
Visitation for Dean Smith will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street North East in Mason City
Dean Robert Smith as born on June 5, 1961, to Robert A. and Virginia (Leake) Smith in Mason City, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Mason City, graduating from Mason City High School with the Class of 1979.
Dean was united in marriage to Mary Curran on June 4, 1983. The couple made their home in Mason City, where they raised their three children. Dean worked and supported his family all his life.
Dean is survived by his wife, Mary, of Mason City; their three children: Elizabeth (Mat) Platts of Mason City, Kristin (Leon) Stitts of Mason City, and Patrick (Sarah) Smith of Bondurant; their four grandchildren: Michael and Benjamin Platts and Rodney and Sterling Smith; his brother David (Ann) Smith of Kanawha, and their daughter Hannah; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Dean was also proud to be the dad to his many “adopted kids.”
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and numerous other extended family members.
