Obituary
Delbert Albert Anton Plath, 84, passed away Friday, June 26, 1998, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa.
Delbert was born August 10, 1913, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, to George and Emma (Schmidt) Plath. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Lynn Township, Hutchinson, Minnesota.
In 1937, he married Leona Schramm and were blessed with a daughter, Kathleen Shirley. They were also foster parents for twenty-four babies. After Leona passed away, Delbert married Naomi Downs in 1967 at St. Paul, Minnesota. Naomi had four grown children, Anita, Tim, Tom and Margaret.
Delbert worked for the 3M Company for 35 years. He enjoyed his cabin at Orr, Minnesota. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Naomi of Britt; his daughter: Kathleen Gabrielson and her husband, Neil of Britt; three stepchildren: Anita Trostem and her husband, Howard of Kiester, MN; Tom Downs and his wife, Mary of Franklin, TN; Margaret Steenblock and her husband, Jerry of Klemme; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters: Erna Schroeder and her husband, Ernest of Buffalo Lake, MN; Edna Klitzke of Hutchinson, MN; Rosella Kohls and her husband, Martin of Hutchinson, MN; three brothers: Rueben Plath and his wife, Lida of Hutchinson, MN; Albin Plath and his wife, Dorothy of Hutchinson, MN; David Plath and his wife, Delores of Hutchinson, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife - Leona in 1967, a stepson - Tim, seven brothers and one sister.
