Dwight Allen Leerar, the son of Leonard and Donna (Mortimer) Leerar, was born on February 24, 1952, in Mason City, Iowa. He grew up in Corwith and graduated from Corwith-Wesley High School in 1970.

Following high school, Dwight attended Hamilton Business College, where he earned a degree in accounting and met the love of his life, Janice Moore. The couple was united in marriage on August 23, 1971, in Wisconsin. On June 1, 1972, they made their home in Britt, where they lovingly raised their five children.

Dwight dedicated 41 years of his career to Winnebago Industries, working in the accounting department until his retirement. He also had a deep commitment to his community serving on city council for many years. He also was dedicated to the youth, volunteering with the Boy Scouts for over 20 years and serving as an Assistant Scout Master.

In his free time, Dwight enjoyed attending Hawkeye games, hunting with family, and taking in air shows. He was an avid fan of old war movies and had a special interest in World War II history. Dwight will be remembered for his kindness, as well as his ornery sense of humor that brought smiles to those around him.

He is survived by his wife of 54 and a half years Jan Leerar of Britt, children Brian (Diana) Moore of Wesley and children, Nicholas (Holly), Jesse, Christopher, Nathaniel (Anne), and Olivia; Jefry (Brenda Parrish) Moore of Crystal Lake and daughters Jamey (Jay) and Jada; Karin (Damon) Baker of Britt and children Joshua, Travis (Alissa), and Heather (Tony); Alison Leerar of Britt and daughter Bailee; Anthony (Misty) Leerar of Duncan and children Spencer (Hailey) and Natily; great grandchildren Deegan, Easton, Emerson, Ella, Jace, Maci, Tate, Harlow and Lyrik; his mother Donna Leerar; brother Danny (Ronda) Leerar; sister Diane Alexander along with many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Leonard Leerar, his paternal grandparents Jake (Vestus) Leerar, his maternal grandparents Charlie (Kathryn) Mortimer, parents-in-law Henry (Hazel) Wirtjes, Jr., and his grandson in infancy, David.
