Obituary


Gail W. Parker, 99, of Britt, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society in Forest City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at the Britt Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Steve Couch officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Ewing Funeral Home, 178 Center Street West in Britt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Awana Ministries at Britt Free Church.

Gail Warren, son of Chester Alan and Ethel (Hull) Parker, was born on September 20, 1923 on the family farm near Chariton. He graduated from Chariton High School in 1943. In 1945, Gail moved with his parents and brother Jerry to a farm near Humboldt.

Gail served in the Army of Post WWII Occupation in Korea from September 1946 through June 1947. After being discharged, Gail continued to farm with his parents. They moved to a farm three miles west of Britt in 1951.

On June 29, 1952, Gail was united in marriage to Isabel Martin at her parents’ farm near Britt. Together they raised their two children, Tom and Ellen.

The most important things in Gail’s life were his faith/church, family, and farming. He also enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and fishing trips. Gail was an active and involved member of the Britt EFree Church. He taught Sunday School, helped with Awana and served on many committees throughout the years.

Gail is survived by his son Tom Parker of Chehalis, Washington and daughter Ellen (Les) Beery of Forest City; and many extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Isabel Parker in 2011; parents Alan and Ethel Parker; six brothers in childhood and brother Jerry in 1951.
