Obituary


Grace Schuver, 88, of Kanawha, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Kanawha Community Home.

Funeral services for Grace Schuver will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Kanawha Christian Reformed Church, with Pastor Brian Hofman officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Cemetery in Goodell.

Visitation for Grace will be Friday, November 30, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 118 East Second Street in Kanawha and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Grace Schuver was born January 17, 1930 to Peter Leuwerke and Grace (Smit) Leuwerke at Crystal Valley, Iowa. She was educated at Hayfield, Iowa.

Grace married Billy A. Schuver on October 24, 1947 at the Woden Christian Reformed Church. The couple lived for a short time in Britt, Thompson, and Crystal Lake, Iowa. In 1951, the couple moved to a farm east of Kanawha, Iowa where they lived until 1993 when they moved into Kanawha.

During her active years Grace worked at Belmond Hospital as an aide, Kanawha Grocery Store, Winnebago and the Olinger’s Flower Shop in Belmond. In later years, she would help out on special occasions at the flower shop in Kanawha.

Grace enjoyed working in the field and outside in her yard. She enjoyed traveling, coffee time in town and being with people. Most of all she loved and enjoyed her family.

Grace will always be remembered for her love of life and her sense of humor.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Doris (Lindberg) Leuwerke of Britt, her son, Ed and Ramae (Busick) Schuver, Goodell, Iowa; her daughters Victoria Schuver of Kanawha, and Debbie Duay of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and daughter-in-law Rhonda (Greiman) Schuver; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Peter and Bud Leuwerke, her husband, Billy Schuver, her son, Larry Schuver; and son-in-law Billy Duay.
