Obituary
James S. Larson, 78, of Crystal Lake passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at his home in Crystal Lake.
Memorial services for Jim Larson will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt with Rev. Robert Snitzer officiating. Burial will follow the luncheon at the Crystal Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service on Saturday.
James Stewart Larson, the son of Morton and Marjorie (Stewart) Larson, was born April 12, 1940 in Forest City, Iowa. He grew up on a farm south of Crystal Lake. He attended country school before attending Crystal Lake High School, graduating with the class of 1958.
Jim was united in marriage to Barbara Jo Haugland on May 24, 1958 in her parents’ home. The couple celebrated 60 years together this past May.
Being a hard worker from an early age, Jim started trucking right after high school. He eventually owned and operated his own trucking business for many years. He later drove for IMT Transport before retiring at the age of 72.
Jim was a kind and gentle man who was proud of his family.
He is survived by his wife Barb Larson of Crystal Lake, Iowa; children Susan (Don McMain) Larson of Delmar, Iowa and daughter April (Chuck) Cox and their daughter Bailey; Mike (Amy) Larson of Britt, Iowa and their sons Zack, Cole, Matt and Jake, and Brenda (Darrin) Smith of Urbandale, Iowa and their children Dylan, Ashley and Payton; sisters Mary (Rick) Etherington and Becky (Tom) Rose; brother Jack (Jan) Larson; brothers-in-law Marvin (Jan) Haugland and Bob (Barb) Haugland along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
