Obituary
Janice Rosella (TerHark) Olinger, 94, of Mason City formerly of Belmond, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Funeral services for Janice will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond, with Jan Tjaden officiating. Burial will take place at Amsterdam Cemetery, rural Goodell.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
Janice Rosella TerHark the daughter of Fred and Elsie (Carolus) TerHark was born December 7, 1927 in Wright County northeast of Clarion, Iowa. She attended rural schools in Wright and Hancock Counties. Janice went on to graduate from Belmond High School in 1946.
On September 3, 1947 Janice was united in marriage to Donald J. Peterson, to this union three children, James, Yvonne and Donetta were born. She married Kenneth W. Olinger on February 6, 1967.
Janice worked in the office at Central Soya in Belmond from 1965 until 1971. She owned and managed her own flower shop and greenhouse in Belmond from 1971 until 1989 when she retired. She also enjoyed sewing, making hand tied quilts, and would donate them to the less fortunate.
Janice is survived by her daughter Yvonne R. (Richard) Rademacher of Charles City; three grandchildren: Michelle (Devin) Broerman, Jerry Rademacher and Rose (Eric) Rottinghaus; two step-children: Ellery (Carol) Olinger of Clear Lake and William (Sharren) Olinger of Mason City; five step-grandchildren: Buffy (Warren) Pendergrass Heyman, Matthew (Mary) Olinger, Robert (Jessica) Olinger, Carrie (Matthew) Tyler, and Shelley Olinger Hutchens; several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth, children James C. Peterson and Donetta L. Peterson; step son Robert and wife Judy Olinger; brothers Allan and Arnett TerHark; and Marjorie TerHark.
