Condolences

I am one of Pat Sampson's children and one who enjoyed the last ten or so years finding Jeanne wherever she was. With my mother, we journeyed to Texas a couple of times and found her there. Then, we found her in Ames and also Spirit Lake, and alway stopped in to check on her in Britt. I noticed how Jeanne had mellowed in her last five or so years, and I kind of missed the gruffer version, the one who told it how it was and measured and prodded and kept track. She was a smart lady, alert, connected, and proud of her family, and her husband's family. My younger sister Julie was with her in the last hours, along with our mother. It was a great comfort to me to be able to conduct a lengthy text message with Julie to catch up on the stories I missed while Jeanne's children were gathered in Ames, and then remember so many details of her life and her shared life with Jerry. Jeanne's children and daughter-in-law were constants in her life and made it possible for her to stay with us to 96. Peace to all of you, and thanks for sharing your mother with us.

Jeanne and Jerry were close family friends. I always enjoyed being around Jeanne. Her kindergarten teacher stories were hilarious. She was a smart, witty, classy woman. I send my warm condolences.

Mrs. Larson helped so many students to love school. She was so sweet and patient with us. We were very fortunate to have had her as our teacher! Prayers of comfort for her children, sister, and grandchildren.

Jeanne was not my kindergarten teacher but she was a lifelong friend of my parents. So I spent much time with Jeanne & Jerry at their home which was just a few blocks away or at my parents place. Jeanne & Jerry were always the life of the parties. She was always so witty, complimentary & very competitive. I have many fond memories of her. My sincere condolences to Chuck, Steve & Susan and the rest of the family.

I am so sorry to see this today. We had so much fun with her and her family when I came back for the class of 67’s 50th class reunion. She was such a lovely person.

My sympathies to Jeanne's family. Mrs. Larson was my teacher and our neighbor growing up. She and Jerry were good friends to my parents and our family, and she always watched out for us kids, as only a village can. She once joked with my dad that after we moved, the neighborhood was "definitely quieter". We still laugh about that. Many fond memories of her and me bopping over to her house frequently. She was a lovely and loving person.
