Obituary


Judith G. Chapman, 79, of Clarion passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Clarion surrounded by her loved ones after a short battle with cancer and other ailments.

Funeral services for Judith Chapman will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 1 , 2023 at the Clarion Church of Christ, 420 North Main Street in Clarion with Pastor Warren Curry officiating.

Visitation for Judith Chapman will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Judy was born in Albert Lea, MN on August 12, 1944 to Kenneth and Naomi Freeman.  She was the 7th of 9 children.  She graduated from Eagle Grove Community High School in 1962.  She later met the love of her life, Ron Chapman and were married June 16, 1972.  Together they raised two children,  Kendra and Chad.

Judy worked in a variety of vocations.  She fondly remembered her time as a school photographer for Lifetouch, and was well known by many for working for Barry at SuperValu.  Her most treasured job was as an area transit driver for the City of Clarion, retiring in 2013.

Judy and Ron spent their retirement years traveling south to Texas for the winter and camping in the summer.  She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.  Baking was a favorite hobby of Judy’s and she was well known for her kringla, popcorn balls, and caramel apples.  She also enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for many in the area.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Bill, Bob, Larry, Jerry, Ronnie, Rick and sister Patty.  She is survived by daughter, Kendra Lutcavish, son Chad (Raejean) Chapman, granddaughter Kenna, brother John (Colleen) Freeman, sisters-in-law Vicki Freeman, Rosie Freeman, Marilyn Chapman, Beth Hilpipre, brothers-in-law Bob (Glory) Chapman, Jerry (Starla) Chapman, Dave (Susie) Chapman, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
