Obituary

Kent “Pork” Brooks, 75, of Clarion, passed away at his home in Clarion on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

According to his wishes, no services will be held.

Kent was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Jack and Gladys Brooks. He was raised and attended school in Clarion and graduated with the Class of 1967.

Kent loved his music. “The law” always knew when he came in off the road, you could hear the music for several blocks away. He always said, “if it’s too loud, you’re too old.”

Kent enjoyed pool, poker, fishing, hunting and drag racing his ‘55 Chevy on the airport road. Those who raced against him knew he was just a big kid, with an even bigger heart.

After many years of over-the-road trucking, Kent retired in 2014.

Kent is survived by his wife, Linda, of Clarion; sister Kay Brooks; daughter Nicole Hughes; stepchildren Kevin (Julie) Walters, Lori (Jon) Kramer, and Melissa (Dan Taylor) Nikkel; 5 grandchildren; along with extended family members and friends.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Gladys; his brother Kirk “Monk” Brooks; son Kent Brooks; and brother-in-law Charles Carlson.

Friends wishing to contact the family may do so by mailing Linda Brooks, c/o Ewing Funeral Home, PO Box 363, Clarion, Iowa, 50525.
