Linda Lou Dorenkamp, died peacefully at her One Vision home in Ventura, Iowa on Saturday night, February 28, after a battle against cancer.
In the 73 blessed years of Linda’s life, she will most be remembered for her happy, spunky, sassy personality among her friends, her One Vision family, and all her beloved family members. She loved shopping, anything shiny and sparkly, pretty bracelets, all sports and spent many years competing in Special Olympics, going to movies, playing cards with her family, visiting her family, and especially seeing all her nieces and nephews. Linda also loved to be in charge and we often joked she was the real “boss.” People tended to give in to her, because everyone loved seeing her smile, along with her contagious laugh.
Linda’s favorite people were definitely her two brothers, Jimmy and Tommy and they made sure she had anything she desired. Linda worked at different jobs through client services provided at Opportunity Village, now One Vision. Throughout her life she worked at the greenhouses and at the Village Store, and loved attending day school at One Vision. She especially enjoyed the dances they had and loved getting dressed up for all her dance partners. She loved having new dresses to wear and especially enjoyed getting her new, shiny birthday outfits to wear.
She was born on February 27th, 1953. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Dorenkamp, mothers, Maxine “Waddingham” Dorenkamp and Ruth “Boelman” Dorenkamp, sister Charlotte “Dorenkamp” Grosz, and nephew Ryan Grosz.
Linda’s passing is deeply mourned by her family, brother, Jimmy and Terry Dorenkamp and their children Carrie and Jason Andersen, Jamie Dorenkamp, and Michael and Danielle Dorenkamp, brother Tommy and Toni Dorenkamp and their children Shelby and Michael Olson, Bradley Dorenkamp and Jeremy Kalina, and Kimberly Dorenkamp, and her nephew Eric and Julie Grosz. Linda will be deeply missed by her family and several great nieces and nephews. Linda will also be mourned by her One Vision family, who have taken such good care of her throughout the years
