Lois was born May 2, 1927 in Garner, Iowa to Floyd and Mildred (Scott) Quintus.
She was raised in Eagle Grove with her sisters Better, Beverly and Charlotte and her brother Bill.
She lived in Eagle Grove until her marriage to Vernon Ester in 1947. To this union were born four children: Paulette, Rebecca, Roxane, and Thomas.
Lois and Vern lived in Clarion for several years before moving to Galt. In 1974 they moved back to Clarion.
Lois was the Galt postmistress for several years. She then worked in banking for over 25 years until her retirement.
In 1993, she moved to Bellingham, Washington to be near Tom and his family. She returned to Wright County in 1995 and spent the remainder of her life here.
When not busy with home, family and work, Lois liked to travel, camp, fish, sew, embroider, knit, crochet and paint-by-number oil paintings. She crocheted countless afghans as gifts for weddings, graduations, new babies and the Holmes Christmas Auction.
Her children and grandchildren treasure the beautiful things she made for them. The years of warmth and comfort provided by her thousands of patient stitches are true testaments of the kind and loving person she was.
Lois is survived by her children: Paulette (Jerry) Seal of Waterloo, Roxane (David) Nowling of Bennett, Colorado and Thomas (Sheri) of Bellingham, Washington; seven grandchildren: Lance LaRue, Rachel and Nathan Nowling, Aaron Seal, Keri Brady, and Jake Lester; six great-granchildren: Kelton, Ashlyn, Jade, Maya and Bianca LaRue and Makenna Nowling; her sisters: Betty Bowles, Beverly (John) Nelsen, Charlotte (Orville) Steffenson all of Goldfield and her brother Bill (Dot) Quintus of Eagle Grove.
She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Mildred, her husband Vern, her daughter Rebecca, her grandson Ethan and a son-in-law LeRoy.
