Obituary


Marian M. (Schumacher) Muhlenbruck-Pralle, 101, of Latimer passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton.

Funeral Services for Marian Muhlenbruck-Pralle will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 204 E South Street, Latimer, Iowa with Pastor Joseph Dunnwald officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Marian was born September 8, 1922, daughter of Chris & Lilian (Fredricks) Schumacher in Sumner, Iowa. At age 2 her family moved to Hampton, Iowa. She attended public school in Hampton graduating in 1940. While attending school she worked for Drierdale restaurant.

On April 8, 1941, she was united in marriage to Ervin Muhlenbruck of Latimer. Soon after the marriage Ervin was drafted into the US Army. Marian followed Ervin while he was within the States. He was stationed in Petersburg, Virginia and Seattle, Washington. When Ervin was sent overseas; Marian stayed in Bellingham, Washington for some time and worked for Boeing aircraft.  After leaving Boeing, she returned to Hampton and worked at the Ben Franklin store. When Ervin returned from the service they made their home in Latimer, Iowa.

In June 1962, Marian started her career in insurance at Carlson Insurance in Latimer.  Her career spanned some 52 years in the insurance business.  She retired in 2014, when she was honored with a 40 year plaque.

On November 8, 2014, Marian married Arlo Pralle of Latimer. The couple made their home in Latimer, where she was an active member of Latimer Fun Days and was awarded for her community service.     Marian was an avid golfer, enjoyed shopping trips, and was a member of the Immanuel UCC.

She is survived by her husband, Arlo; one son Ron (Theresa) Muhlenbruck of Osage; grandchildren Laura (Chad) Laramore of Missouri and Russell (Laura) Muhlenbruck of Missouri; great grandchildren Elliot & Andersenn; step-children Darwin (LaDonna) Pralle of rural Latimer, Rodney (Sandra) Pralle of rural Hampton, Wayne (Amy) Pralle of rural Latimer, Colleen (Mike) Trees of Belmond, and Wanda (Brian) Hiscocks of Britt; many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.  She leaves two very good friends, Sue Gauger and Sonna McMahon of Latimer.

Proceeding her in death was husband, Ervin, an infant daughter, parents Chris & Lilian Schumacher, sisters Eunice Robertson of Garner, Iowa and Mae Sanford of Fort Dodge. One brother, Raymond of Waterloo, Iowa.
