Obituary


Marie Christensen, 91, of Clarion, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove.

Per Marie’s wishes, she was cremated and will be interred at a later date. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, Iowa. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. 

Marie Louise (Campbell) Christensen, eldest daughter of Gaius Asa and Verla Marie (Doolittle) Campbell was born on July 6, 1934, near Webster City, Iowa. As a child, she and her family moved to a farm in rural Wright County. Marie attended country school and graduated from Eagle Grove High School with the “Class of 1952”.

Marie married the love of her life, Lyle B. Christensen, on September 20, 1953, at the Eagle Grove Methodist Church. Three children were born to this union: Cindy, Randy and Pam.

Following her high school graduation, Marie was employed at Wooster Insurance Agency for a few years. Marie and Lyle then began working as farm hands for his father. In 1962, they took over the operation of the family farm. Marie and Lyle farmed side by side with the help of their son, Randy, until their retirement in 2020. Family was very important to Marie. She truly enjoyed sharing special meals and celebrating important milestones with many family members and friends. She took great pleasure in caring for her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Marie passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Rotary Senior Living Memory Care Unit in Eagle Grove at the age of 91 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; her parents; siblings Morris (Joan), Don (Ethel), Gilbert, Robert, Charles, Billy, Paul and brother-in-law Dean Rasmussen.

Marie is survived by children Cindy Marshall, Randy (Lynette) Christensen, and Pam Christensen; grandchildren Suzanne Marshall (Bryce Rustwick), Derek (Keely) Christensen, Kristina Marshall (Patrick Townsend), Kendra (Jacob) Oswald, and Kathleen (Jerad) Watts; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters Yvonne Rasmussen and Sandra Napier; and sisters-in-law Helen, Sandy and Jackie Campbell as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
