Mark and I served on the Robert and Arlene Hamilton Foundation Board together . I enjoyed his insight in agricultural matters. He had a nice sense of humor and was a joy to be around. We will miss him on the board. Please accept my heartfelt condolences

Mark Friedow family and friends, My name is Bill Gourd and I've known Chris & Alyssa Sundell for many years (I work with Chris). Everyone takes their own unique path during times like these so there's no way for me to know what each of you is going through. Please know however that you're all in the Gourd family's thoughts, and our sincere wish is that you complete your journey and end with the ability to look back at your time with Mark with peace of mind and comfort of soul.

Mark was a fascinating person and I loved getting the opportunity to work with. He was always a jokester! I don’t think I ever had a conversation with him where we didn’t smile. Mark cared deeply about the future of the egg industry and the Egg Industry Center. He was always willing to share his knowledge with me and help the Egg Industry Center answer our most off-the-wall questions. He was always available to help. I truly believe the egg industry has lost one of our greatest resources when we lost him. Mark’s love for this industry and his helpful spirit will be missed dearly.

I had the pleasure to work with Mark in 2009-2011. I always had the utmost respect for Mark. The Sparboe Farms retail sales team learned so much from him. I was so sad to hear this news that Mark had passed. Mark's family, friends and all that knew Mark I will be praying for.

Mark will be missed by many in the egg industry. He was resolute in defending the modern conventional caged system. I considered Mark more than a business associate. He was my friend.

My deepest sympathy on the loss of Mark Friedow. I greatly appreciated his strong support for Iowa State University and his important involvement in initiating and the development of the new ISU Poultry Farm. He was instrumental in the initial gift to this project. He will be remembered for a long time for his contributions.
