Obituary


Marlo Jeannine Ouren, age 76, of Clarion, passed away Monday, February 4, 2008 at Wright Medical Center in Clarion.

Funeral services for Jeannine Ouren will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, February 8, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in Clarion, with Pastor Don Morrison officiating.  Burial will take place at the Harlan Cemetery.  Family and friends will meet at Pauley Jones Funeral Home, 1104 9th Street in Harlan at 12:30 PM Saturday, February 9, 2008 and process to the cemetery for a 1:00 PM committal service.

Marlo Jeannine Ouren, the daughter of Wayne and Hazel Gillam Phipps of Farragut, Iowa was born at the Hamburg Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa on November 25, 1931.  She attended school in Farragut, Iowa, graduating in 1949.  Jeannine then went to Simpson College achieving a degree in education.  She then taught elementary education and later became involved in real estate and the Ouren Abstract Company.

In 1951, Jeannine was united in marriage to Lawrence R. Parr, to this union three children were born, Steven, Diane and Janet.  She later married Bud Ouren in 1977.

In addition to her parents, Jeannine is preceded in death by her husband Bud who died December 13, 2001, and her son, Steven, February 10, 1977.

Her pride and joy was being a mother.  Family was very important to her and she enjoyed the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Jeannine was member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion.  Her other passions in life included politics (yes, she is an avid Democrat), environmental issues – especially birds (which she has taught All of her family to love), shopping and music. She was an avid book reader and a member of the Book Club at the Clarion Library.

She is survived by her daughters: Diane (Dan) Sorensen of Clarion, Janet Leinen of Gilbert, Arizona; grandchildren: Gabriel (Megan) Fiscus, Jody (Darren) Johnson, Matthias Leinen, Dustin Leinen, and Kacie Leinen; three great-granddaughters: Jordyn and Jadyn Jondle and Indy Belle Johnson; step-children: Randy Ouren, Cathy (Tom) Wilke, Gail LaBlanc; step-grandchildren: Joplyn (Shawn) Cannon, Jessica Van Houten and Alison Le Blanc; step-great grandson Keller Cannon; brother, Richard (Marilyn) Phipps; nephew Roger (Beth) Phipps and niece Lisa (John) Connell.
