Visitation will be held prior to the memorial service on Saturday, beginning at 1:30 PM.
Because of Marv's love of animals, please consider adopting a pet. Memorial contributions can be donated to the North Iowa Humane Society in Mason City, in his honor.
Marv was born October 23, 1949, in Belmond, Iowa, the son of Ardyce and Kenneth Bailey. He grew up on a farm near Rowan, Iowa, and graduated from Belmond High School.
Marv married Dee Dee McCloskey on April 21, 1979. They were blessed with two sons, Jonathan and Steven. Marv worked at Central Soya in Belmond and Armour in Mason City.
Marv loved spending time with family, including Dee Dee’s family, the McCloskey’s. They were like his second family. He loved fishing, camping, motorcycle riding and traveling. He was an avid trapper in his younger days. He was a member of the Lionel train club and enjoyed buying and selling model trains. He collected gas pumps, orange GTO Judge cars, and many other items. He was always looking for the best deal.
Marv was artistic and loved to draw and design things. The last thing Marv designed was their headstone. He was also a handy mechanic, carpenter and had a knack for coming up with ideas to solve design problems. He had a great sense of humor; he and Dee Dee were always coming up with something to make people laugh. Marv was an independent, strong-willed man, and that got him through many struggles in his life. He was very determined and would never give up! He loved nature, all animals, and cherished the many cats and dogs he had over the years. They were a big part of his family.
Marv is survived by his sons, Jonathan and Steven Bailey; grandchildren, Dart, Chance, Parker and Summer; siblings Larry (Carol) Bailey, Dennis (Donna) Bailey, Ron (Connie) Bailey, and Cindy (Dean) Lehs; from the McCloskey family: Tom & Mary, Debbie & Bob, John & Vicky, and Pat & Francie; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Marv was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dee Dee; his parents Ardyce & Kenneth; his grandparents; his in-laws, William and Margaret McCloskey, Big Dee Dee, Patty, Tom, Peggy, Billy, and Mike.
