Patricia Harris (Prawit) Schmit, the daughter of Donald and Jane (Roberts) Prawit, was born on September 3, 1929 in New Jersey.  When she was young her family moved to Randolph, Nebraska, here she grew up and graduated from Randolph High School.

Pat was united in marriage to Nicholaus Schmit on August 25, 1949. To this union, eight children were born.  The couple raised their family all over the Midwest before settling in Belmond.

In Belmond, Pat worked at the Dougherty Jewelry Store, John Deere Implement and Thompson’s clothing store.  When she wasn’t working Pat enjoyed golf, playing cards, working in her flower garden and was an avid reader.

Most of all, Pat loved being around her family. She cherished the trips up to the family cabin in Bemidji, Minnesota and making Christmas and birthdays special.  She will be missed for her true kindness.

She is survived by her children Nicholette (Lee) Barbee of Broomfield, Colorado, Jane (Jim) Kennedy of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Jill (Brian) Hall of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Virginia (Rick) Anderson of Boone, Sue (Brian) Symens of Hampton and Mark (Stephanie) Schmit of Belmond; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 63 years Nicholaus Schmit, son David Schmit, daughter Paula Schmit and sisters Janet Chapman and Ruth Pospishel.
