Please join us to celebrate Pat’s life on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at United Church of Rowan. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 AM. A graveside service will take place at Graceland Cemetery, and all are welcome to a light meal at the church afterward.

Patricia Jane Crafton was deeply held dear by all who knew her. A true friend to many, she shared both joys and sorrows with an open heart.

Born at home on September 6, 1933, to Philip and Dorotha Ketchum in Wright County, near Rowan, IA, Pat grew up on a farm with her three brothers, Robert, Sid, and Gene. She attended country school and graduated from Rowan High School in 1951 before studying at AIB in Des Moines. Pat spent her career at Brenton Bank, retiring after many dedicated years.

On September 12, 1952, she married Verle Crafton, and they established their home on a farm south of Rowan, where they raised four children: Randall Gene, Barbara Jo, James Allen, and DeAnn Kay. Their farm became a gathering place for nieces and nephews in the summer and for grandchildren during weekends and holidays.

A devoted great-grandmother, at 89, she traveled to Virginia to meet her great-grandson, Bennett Crafton, delighting in his red hair and charming personality.

Pat was an active member of United Church of Rowan, where she enjoyed cross-stitching for the annual bazaar, participating in Bible study, and serving on various committees.

She is survived by her daughter, DeAnn Crafton (Greg) of Rowan; her daughters-in-law, Jolene Crafton of Blacksburg, VA and Jo Ann Crafton of Fort Madison; her brother, Gene Ketchum of Bagley; four grandchildren—Jennifer Scott (Steve) of Osceola, Adam Cross (Jennifer) of Williams, Jason Crafton (Amber) of Blacksburg, VA, and Matthew Crafton of Fort Madison—and one great-grandson. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and step-great-grandchildren who will honor her memory.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, three children, her parents, and two brothers.
