Obituary

Stanley J. Parks, 78, of Clarion, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at his home.

Celebration of Life will be held at Stan’s Shed, 713 2nd Avenue Southwest in Clarion, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

Stanley James, son of James Wiley and Pearl (Wink) Parks, was born on February 20, 1946 in Anamosa. He grew up in the Monticello area and attended school in Mount Vernon, graduating in 1964.

After school, Stan was employed by Zearing Tree Service and came to Clarion. He later worked at Cargill Elevator until retirement. After he retired, Stan worked for several local farmers. He especially enjoyed the harvest season. Stan also volunteered on the Clarion Fire Department for several years.

On August 20, 1988, Stan was united in marriage to Colleen Lester at the Little Brown Church. They made their home in Clarion. Together they loved traveling out west every year.

Stan enjoyed making wood projects and would often gift them to friends. He enjoyed cheering for his Dallas Cowboys, going to grandchildren’s sporting events and daily visits with the coffee club and was always willing to help anyone in need. His happy place was his shed and mowing with his John Deere.

Stan is survived by his wife Colleen Parks; son Terry (Gwen) Parks; daughter Tabi Churchill; grandchildren Cordell Parks, Wiley Parks, Brome Churchill and Sage Churchill; sisters Janice Fall-Luchtenburg and Eileen (Robert) Jacobson; sister-in-law Kathy Lester; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Wiley and Pearl Parks; parents-in-law George and Jean Lester; and brothers-in-law LaVerle Fall and Harold Luchtenburg.
