Obituary


Thomas A. King, 67, of Dows, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at his home in Dows.

Memorial graveside services for Thomas are being planned for a later date.

Thomas was born on March 24, 1957, in Mason City, lowa, to Joseph and Phyllis (Angell) King.

He grew up in Mason City and worked a variety of jobs throughout his life. During high school, Thomas worked at the Rose Bowl in Mason City, before taking on a role for Bell house moving.

He later worked as a janitor at Dows Community Schools. However, his true passion was driving truck. Thomas spent the majority of his life on the road and exploring new places. He was known for his vast knowledge.

Thomas enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. He was an avid camper, enjoyed bowling, loved watching drag races, playing cards, and was a loyal fan of the lowa State Cyclones. He also had a fondness for classic TV shows like Gunsmoke and Smokey and the Bandit.

On July 15, 1989, Thomas was united in marriage to Phyllis Marie Eenhuis in Mesa, Arizona.

Thomas helped raise Phyllis' children Phillip and Deni as his own, and together they shared a life full of love and companionship.

Thomas is survived by his daughter Deni Eenhuis, his four grandchildren, and his three great grandchildren. Siblings: William (Georgene Williams) King of Mason City, IA, Teresa (Ernest) Harms of Hampton, IA, and Joe (Jerilyn Cornellier) King of Jacksonville, NC. Step siblings:

Karen Hubacher, Pam (Mark) Kleven, Nancy (Tim) Young, Michael (Julia) Hesley, Kelley (Connie) Hesley, and Michelle Couch. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Special recognition is given to his caregiver, SheRee Wharton, for the compassionate care she provided to Thomas.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Hazel King, Gerald and Phyllis Hesley; his wife Phyllis King; his sister Nancy Rodriguez, and his son Phillip Eenhuis. Step Siblings: Dennis Eenhuis, Dennis Hesley, Denise Potter, LaNaya Angell, Marzen Flores, and Shirley McWilliams.

Thomas will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His vibrant personality, love for driving truck, and his charm left an impression on everyone he encountered. May he rest in peace.
