Velma “Darline” Jones was born August 16, 1930 to Richard Pearl  and Dora Grace (Ewing) Osborn on a farm near Stratford, Iowa. On October 8, 1950, Darline was joined in marriage to Beryl Burneil  “Punk” Jones. To this union were born 3 children, Gene Jones (1952), Susan Jones Anderson (1955), Burneil Jones Jr. (1957).

Darline attended school in Homer, Iowa, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Livermore, Iowa, and graduated from Rowan High School in Rowan, Iowa with the class of 1948.

Upon graduation, Darline moved back to Fort Dodge and worked at the National Gypsum Company as Bill of Lading Director for 2 years. She then became wife of Burneil Jones in 1950, and worked as a farmwife for 43 years. Darline also worked at the Wright County State Bank, and upon her retirement, she worked for Dows Co-op at Rowan, Iowa for 7 years. Due to “Punk’s” ongoing illness, she remained his caregiver until his death on January 30, 2008. She then moved to Belmond Community Apartments where she stated “it was the first time she felt retired and she was in the best place for her to live.”

Darline’s life was spent with her loving husband of 57 years and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved her family’s visits. She enjoyed learning about new technology, like her computer, cell phone, and TV. She loved clothes, jewelry and puzzles. She also enjoyed the many activities and new friends she had made since moving to her apartment in Belmond.  Darline said, “I have had it all.”

She is survived by son Gene (Karyl) of Huxley, Iowa; daughter Susan (Doug) Anderson of Long Grove, Iowa; grandchildren Emily (Ryan) Rockafellow, Ben Anderson, Chelsea (Andy) Wieskamp, Nathan (Neha) Jones; great-grandchildren Chloe Rockafellow, Asher Rockafellow, Carter Anderson, Brinley Anderson, Kaden Wieskamp, and Owen Wieskamp; and sister Donna Kopish along with many nieces and nephews.
