Vicki Jean, daughter of Willis and Charlene (Iehl) Anderson, was born on March 11, 1954, in River Falls, Wisconsin. Vicki grew up in Belmond and graduated from Belmond High School.
From a young age, Vicki shared a special bond with her childhood friend, Michael McMurray. They began dating in seventh grade and led to their marriage on June 13, 1971, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Together, they built a life full of love on the family farm near Belmond, where they raised their two children, Chris and Tina.
Vicki began her career as a CNA at the Belmond hospital and, with her caring spirit and strong work ethic, worked her way up to become the Director of Nursing at Apple Valley Place of Clear Lake. Her passion for caregiving extended far beyond the workplace—she was a source of comfort, strength, and support to all who knew her.
She found joy in the simple things of life: mowing the lawn, tending to her garden, and reading a book under the warm sunshine. Her happiest moments were those spent with her grandchildren—taking them on weekend adventures or simply making memories at the family’s cabin in Canada in the summers.
Vicki was the heart of her family. Whether hosting Sunday brunches or baking her banana bread or anything lemon, she made sure everyone left her home full—of both food and love. Her “Jeanie Girl” Lu held a special place in her heart, as did all her grandkids. She never missed their events, whether cheering from the stands or streaming it online.
Vicki lived a life of kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love. She had a knack for knowing just what to say and was always ready with a comforting hug. Her legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will always be cherished.
She is survived by her beloved husband Mike McMurray; her children Chris (Amber) McMurray and Tina McMurray; 6 grandchildren Christian McMurray, Cariin Schuver, Cole Nelson, Addi McMurray, Hutchison McMurray, and Nevi McMurray; great-granddaughter Luella Yackle; siblings Dayle (Lynn) Bell, George Anderson, Teri (Bob) Eckhoff, Janet (Sam) Rockow, Ricky (Ginny) Anderson, Sheri (Brent) Boelman, Leslie Heifner, Mark (Ellie) Anderson, and Paul (Annette) Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Charlene; Mike’s parents; aunts Doreen Winterhalter and Sheryl Dean; brother-in-law Calvin Heifner; nephews Blake Boelman and Jay Gochenouer.
