William Gerald Bosch was born on August 5, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the son of George and Audrey (Doody) Bosch. He was raised in St. Martin, Wisconsin and attended Sacred Heart’s School.
Following school, Bill began a lifelong career in mechanics. He began by pushing a broom and worked his way up. During his working years, he worked for Cummins in Milwaukee, CW Transport in the engine room, before working for Gross Trucking in management and Croell Ready Mix as a shop foreman.
Bill was married to Pamela Osborn, and to this union, children Dawn, Jerry and Joseph were born. The couple later divorced and Bill married Joan Sines on November 14, 1991. Joan passed away in 2016.
Bill’s true passion was working on and restoring old cars. He owned and operated Bill’s Rod Shop in Houston, Minnesota for more than 25 years. Bill was known in the Rod community as a flathead expert. His prized restorations include a 1929 Model A, a 1953 Chevy 5 window truck and a 1949 Chevy 5 window.
Naturally, Bill loved car shows, swap meets, and the like. He was a member of Good Guys, River City Street Rods, The Wizards of Rod Car Club, and the Tri-State Ford Club. He loved attending Cruise to the Coast in Gulf Port, Mississippi every year. He was also an avid firearms collector, enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. His home in rural Houston is picturesque and is frequented by a variety of wildlife.
Bill was a lifelong Catholic and his faith was very important to him.
Bill is survived by his children, Dawn (Norm) Prewitt, of Huxley; Jerry (Rhonda) Bosch, of Wapello, and Joe (Alina) Bosch, of Clarion; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; Joan’s sons, David Domine and Travis Domine; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan; his brother Ken Bosch; and Joan’s sons, Paul Domine and Michael Domine.
In lieu of flowers and other customary remembrances, Bill’s family suggests memorial contributions may be directed to Bosch’s Hot Rod and Custom Car Show Memorial Fund.
